Smoking Ban in Effect This Long Weekend

How far are we going to continue to let the Government regulate and control our personal lives with the sole purpose of making money from it.

Most smokers hate it and are tired of Government imposed regulations over personal choices. Most non-smokers, on the other hand, think it's great. No more butts in the parks and beaches, no more second hand smoke and associated smell.

The BC Government has gone crazy with all the new No-Smoking bylaws. The millions of tax payers dollars wasted on this insanity is what is criminal, not choosing to be a smoker. So here's how you beat this.

LONDON - Secondhand smoke kills more than 600,000 people worldwide every year, according to a new study.

In the first look at the global impact of secondhand smoking, researchers analyzed data from 2004 for 192 countries. They found 40 percent of children and more than 30 percent of non-smoking men and women regularly breathe in secondhand smoke.

QUIT SMOKING WITH ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES

Aside from the obvious fact that smoking is bad for your health, it has become almost impossible or at the very least a serious inconvenience to be a smoker. With all the new no smoking bans and laws that have appeared in the last years, a smoker must literally remove themselves from any public area in order to have a cigarette. In Vancouver, B.C. these laws now include outdoor areas covering all public beaches, parks and within 9 feet of any build entrance way. I feel like a drug addict, not a social smoker. To further add to the situation is simply the outrageous cost these days for cigarettes with all the government tax implications.

ELECTRONIC CIGARETTE MYTH # 1
E-CIGS ARE NOT AN EFFECTIVE TOBACCO CESSATION AID

According to an article in the Addiction Treatment Magazine, the success rate of nicotine replacement therapies (NRT's) such as the Nicorette gum, patch or lozenge has an estimated 19% success rate measured at 6 weeks following the commencement of the therapy program. One in five is not terribly encouraging.

The pill is another story - Chantix (or Verenicline)has more reported side effects than rat poison. Nausea, headaches, difficulty sleeping, abnormal dreams, vomiting, flatulence and constipation, are a few of the reported side effects. A randomized controlled trial sponsored by Pfizer (the drug manufacturer) in 2006 showed a success rate of 23% - about the same as NRT's.

We have been selling e-cigs for nearly 2 years and have found an estimated 70% of customers who buy one of our e-cig starter kits to help them quit smoking actually quit and that includes quitting the e-cig. While our results are not of the highest scientific calibre, they are purely empirical and far more encouraging than either NRT's or the pill and far less stressful - in fact the majority of our customers also tell us the e-cig is enjoyable and even fun.

How do we know this - our customers come back and tell us and we and they are truly inspired with their awesome achievement!!!

THE HEALTHY SKEPTIC: ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES

"...Experts and policymakers who criticize electronic cigarettes are missing a great chance to improve public health, says Carl Phillips, associate professor of public health at the University of Alberta in Edmonton"

(PRWEB) December 28, 2009

In an interview with E Cigarette Direct Professor Carl Phillips, associate professor at the University of Alberta, has argued that electronic cigarettes are a valid alternative to cigarettes, stating:

“I think there’s absolutely no doubt that it is a safer alternative to regular cigarettes.”

He estimated that electronic cigarettes carried a risk that:

“…is probably in the order of 99 percent less harmful than smoking.”
