VANCOUVER ELECTRONIC CIGARETTES
Hollywood Celebrities Con"t.
Most of the people I know who have switched to E-cigs seem to fit into 3 categories; those who want to quit, looking for a healthier way to continue smoking both for themselves and loved ones around them like children, dramatically save money and to avoid all the problems associated with no-smoking bans and having to go outside every time they want to have a cigarettes.
So what category do the celebs fit in to. Katherine Heigl was pushed to stop smoking after becoming a mother to adopted daughter Naleigh in September 2009. She was snapped puffing on a electronic cigarette on the set of her new film "One for the Money".
Whichever category the Stars fit in to, I doubt it's the save money category. What would be interesting is whether you see actual smoking of e-cigs by actors in movies. The negative stigma around smoking scenes in movies has resulted in the opposite of what was seen years ago in film. Remember Sean Connery as Bond standing in a bar holding a cigarette in one hand and a martini in the other. Back then it was glamorous to be smoker - not today.
So Why Not Just Quit Smoking
This is the usual question asked and carries some complexity behind it. For one thing Nicotine is considered by subject matter experts as one of the most addictive substances available - legal or otherwise. As a smoker, I have tried many times unsuccessfully to quit using methods like chewing nicotine gum, wearing patches, cold turkey, etc.
Maybe for the movie stars it is simply the new fashion statement in Hollywood
It will be interesting to observe the continued trend towards the adoption of e-cigs regardless of the reason. It certainly appeals to many as a healthier way to address their smoking habits.
